As the mind is, so are the speeches
Верный (true / the right one) – здесь: хороший, надёжный, правильный / here: good, reliable, correct.
Тысячелетие (millennium) – период времени в 1000 лет, десять веков / a period of 1000 years, ten centuries.
Теснейший (the closest) – самый тесный, очень близкий / the most intimate, very close.
Собеседник (interlocutor) – участник разговора, беседы / a participant in a conversation or dialogue.
Оттачивать (to hone) – улучшать, совершенствовать / to improve, to perfect.
Ораторство (oratory) – умение сочинять и произносить речи / the art or skill of composing and delivering speeches.
____________
The right way to get to know a person well is to listen to what they say and how they say it. You can often hear that a person's eyes are a mirror of their soul, and speech is a calling card. It's hard to argue with that, isn't it? The great Socrates said thousands of years ago: "Speak so that I can see you!", and folk wisdom says: "As the mind is, so are the speeches".
Psychologists and linguists have long noticed that language and thinking are closely related: the more developed a person’s intellect is, the richer, more diverse, more accurate and expressive his speech is.
To be a pleasant and interesting interlocutor, one must first of all hone the mind and deepen one’s knowledge. It is also important to remember that oratory is a great art that requires daily practice.
